Come to Norden

Come to Norden takes the visitor on a journey through nostalgic travel posters. This exhibition lets you experience how early tourists were drawn to travel to and around the Nordic region, by way of steamboat, train or plane, between the 1890s and 1960s.

In a time when the Internet hadn’t yet been invented, posters were travel agencies’ way of reaching new customers. The message was clear and simple: Come to Northern Europe!

This exhibition pays homage to the artists, illustrators and graphic designers who created the image of the Nordic countries as the perfect travel destination. Oftentimes, the artists would create these posters in economic straits and without the appreciation they deserved.

The exhibition is produced by Poster Hunters Magnus Londen and Sophie Holm. The exhibition is made in a collaboration with Painomiehet.

The openings of the exhibition are held in 24 April fron 5 pm to 7 pm. After the openings the exhibition will be open to the public at the Design Center Proto from 25 April to 10 August during the opening hours of the center.
